An Opportunity to Flex Your Creative Muscle In order to be balanced human beings, I believe people need to be physically healthy, spiritually awake, and creatively expressive. Photography, just like writing and film, is a selfless way to be creative while also giving something back to the world. Ask ten different photographers to photograph the same thing — a city for example — and be prepared to see ten wildly different visions of the same subject. Appreciate and Understand Your Surroundings More I now find myself seeing everything around me in rectangular frames—a takeaway from having to frame so many pictures over the years. But I also find myself observing and appreciating all the little things around me.
Dating and identifying cameras
Guide to Real Photo Postcards This guide is meant to aid the collector in identifying and dating real photo postcards, and to act as a reminder that it is impossible to do so with great accuracy. Although real photo postcards were made in a variety of ways, they hold one identifiable feature in common. The tonalities of photos are completely continuous to the eye producing true greys, for they are created by the reaction of individual photosensitive molecules to light rather than the transfer of ink from a plate.
In printed images the grey areas are usually made up of black marks that are spaced to create the optical illusion of greys. Though most of us today are familiar with the concept of photo grain, this is mostly because we have experienced very large prints made from small 35mm negatives. But even here the effect is more of a softening of detail than a observable texture.
The new Leica Q-P pairs the tech specs of the Leica Q camera with a shutter release button that replicates those of the Leica M and CL cameras and a refined, yet understated matte black finish.
Opt out or contact us anytime Keep in mind that once you buy a Leica camera body, it still needs a lens. But this, professional photographers say, is where Leica excels. Once you have recovered from seeing the price of the Noctilux-M, keep in mind it is considered one of the best low-light lenses in the world and has such a wide aperture it can shoot almost in darkness. The company names all of its lenses based on the amount of light a lens can let in through the aperture; these include the Summilux, Summicron, Summarit and Noctilux.
My personal Leica setup is half that. I own a used Leica M9-P with a Leica 50mm f1. Advertisement Continue reading the main story This was true decades ago and is still true today. If you do buy a Leica, it will also take a long time to become completely used to the range finder and manual setup. Leicas are in such high demand that there is a three-month wait to purchase several of the latest models. August 9, The earlier version of an introduction to a slide show with this article incompletely described the cameras used to take the photographs.
The Leicas used to take the pictures were digital models, not film cameras. August 12, An article on the Personal Tech pages on Thursday about Leica cameras misstated the decade in which Leica first released a camera with a range finder body. It was in — not in the s, which is when the company introduced its M-System cameras. A version of this article appears in print on August 8, , on Page B7 of the New York edition with the headline:
Nikon lenses , Photographs Thomas Pindelski Another insane bargain. This mm telephoto lens dates from and is the one to own if you love the early all metal designs, a broad scalloped focus collar and a similarly designed aperture ring. More importantly, how does gorgeous rendition of out-of-focus areas sound? I love the feel of this lens, so reminiscent of s vintage Leitz Summicrons, but I would suggest you buy one regardless of whether you even plan to use it.
You see, this lens is the ultimate exemplar of optical and mechanical engineering.

I have said, in the past, that you should move toward full frame sensors. I have always championed full frame sensors. At the end of the day, full frame sensors beat APS sized and smaller sensors. The whole reason I bought an original x was because it had the largest sensor I could find in a small camera. It had been a number of years since I had shot an APS crop frame sensor.
I replaced that with a Nikon D3 full frame and then moved on to the Canon 5d2, also full frame. Full frame cameras are better. I started shooting personal work with my little Fuji. Then I pulled it out on jobs from time to time because I loved that little camera. Then I used it more. Then I got the X-Pro1. Then I started seeing my Fuji images in print. I cropped into some images and enlarged them to full page.
I received the test prints back and I taped them to the wall and took one step back.
Leica M-P joins camera firm’s rangefinder line
Numerous ‘Leica Copies’ have accelerated the adoption of the standard and a large number of manufacturers, including the fledging Japanese camera makers like Canon and Nikon began to manufacture LTM lenses. Most of the early Russian lens designs trace their roots to Carl Zeiss designs. The Jena factory continued its production under the Communist regime, but Russians also jump-started their own factories, most notably in Krasnogorsk the KMZ factory and later also expanded production to Arsenal Kiev, Litkarino, Lvov, Kharkov and Kazan factories.
But KMZ remained the epicenter of the innovation and most original Russian designs were originated there.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Robert M. from The Best Leica To Date The SL represents another major product for the company that has produced a long list of revolutionary cameras dating back more for than a hundred years. With the SL, Leica builds on that history, but has taken a major step forward by utilizing today’s technology in this camera/5(18).

They will surely hear G-d say. Thanks for bringing this story to us. I have heard similar things were done by Siemens, whether it is true I don’t know. There is one sentence which though is inaccurate: Many non-Jewish people were also affected by the Nurnberger Laws, it sufficed if your great grandparent was Jewish.
Also, non-Jewish Germans were equally restricted in movement: One of them was working for Edwin Land’s co-founder of Polaroid cousin, selling cameras and photographic accessories. One day a man came into the store and said he was interested in getting a new camera. Yashica had just started to produce high quality twin lens reflex cameras.
I took it out and told the customer that it was one of the first high quality cameras that came into the country. He said that it sounded like a Japanese name.

Developing My first bit of advice is to figure out whether or not you want to buy and use these cameras, or simply display them on a shelf. The number of people shooting film has significantly decreased in the last 15 or so years, but there is still enough of a loyal following that it is still possible to get film cheaply. If you have no interest in actually using old cameras, then by all means go hog wild and just buy anything you think looks cool.
However, if you want to shoot film, you need to be a little more discriminate. Types of Film and What to Avoid Not including instant film formats like Polaroid and a couple very obscure formats that are hard to find and extremely expensive, there are two primary formats of film that are still readily available. An example of roll film and format 35mm film, which are the two most common types of film still available today.

The Mq mode is primarily used in the studio if everything is locked down. It turns off the rear screen and freezes the settings, thus reducing power consumption. These contain two antennae. GPS was either not installed or working on the camera I was using. All worked as expected. Another cool feature is that as you turn the mode dial, a similar dial appears in the viewfinder or rear screen.
I am pretty sure most readers feel the same way. Most of the time they are very unintuitive, as well as hard to understand. This is not the case with the X1D. This is a menu system done right. As you can see from above, there is a screen full of information.

My Photographic Beginnings The first camera that I owned was a Kodak Brownie that was a present given to me by my brother Jim when I was about ten years old. I used the camera for family photographs but not for “serious” photographs and very few images survive that were taken on this camera. This was replaced a few years later by another camera It also and had an accessory shoe and sync socket allowing use of a flash unit.
